LIFE AFTER DEATH

From: http://www.xs4all.nl/~wichm/paraps.html

Brain specialists, Prof. J.C.Eccles, Dr.Wilder Penfield and Prof.W.H.Thorpe stated that in their opinion the brain appears to be more a complicated organism to register and channel consciousness rather than produce it.

"The brain is messenger to consciousness", Eccles said.

David J.Chalmers Ph.D. writes in the Scientific American (1997):

Consciousness, the subjective experience of an inner self, could be a phenomenon forever beyond the reach of neuroscience. Even a detailed knowledge of the brain's workings and the neural correlates of consciousness may fail to explain how or why human beings have self-aware minds.

The Lancet of 15th December 2001 published an extensive NDE study of Pim van Lommel, MD, cardiologist at Rijnstate Hospital in Arnhem, Netherlands.

He relates: A patient saw during a NDE, besides his deceased grandmother, another man who looked at him full of love. Yet he did not know him.

More than ten years later he learned that he was born out of wedlock with a Jewish man during WW2. This man was deported and killed. When he was shown a photo of his biological father he recognised him as the man he had seen ten years before during his NDE

Soul-searching doctors find life after death

By Jonathan Petre, 22/10/2000

THE first scientific study of "near-death" experiences has found new evidence to suggest that consciousness or the "soul" can continue to exist after the brain has ceased to function.

The findings by two eminent doctors, based on a year-long study of heart attack survivors, could provoke fresh controversy over that most profound of questions: is there life after death?
Reports of "near-death" experiences, in which people close to death have vivid encounters with bright lights and heavenly beings, date back centuries, but the phenomenon has been treated with scepticism by most academics.

The new study concludes, however, that a number of people have almost certainly had these experiences after they were pronounced clinically dead. This would suggest that the mind or consciousness can survive the death of the brain - a conclusion that was hailed by clerics last night as supporting religious faith.

Bishop Stephen Sykes, the professor of theology at Durham University and chairman of the Church of England's Doctrine Commission, said the findings were "absolutely fascinating". He added: "I do not find them surprising, however, as I believe life is much more mysterious than we usually think it is. For theologians, the soul is far more than consciousness or the mind. But these findings challenge the crude idea that when a person's brain dies, that, as far as the person's existence is concerned, is that."

The Bishop of Basingstoke, the Rt Rev Geoffrey Rowell, another commission member, said: "These near-death experiences counter the materialist view that we are nothing more than computers made of meat."

Based on interviews with survivors of heart attacks at Southampton General Hospital's cardiac unit, the new study is to be published in the respected medical journal Resuscitation next year.

The study's authors, Dr Peter Fenwick, a consultant neuropsychiatrist at the Institute of Psychiatry in London, and Dr Sam Parnia, a clinical research fellow and registrar at Southampton hospital, stress that more research is needed.

Dr Parnia said: "These people were having these experiences when we wouldn't expect them to happen, when the brain shouldn't be able to sustain lucid processes or allow them to form memories that would last. So it might hold an answer to the question of whether mind or consciousness is actually produced by the brain or whether the brain is a kind of intermediary for the mind, which exists independently."

Dr Fenwick said: "If the mind and brain can be independent, then that raises questions about the continuation of consciousness after death. It also raises the question about a spiritual component to humans and about a meaningful universe with a purpose rather than a random universe."

During the study period, 63 cardiac arrest patients survived and were interviewed within a week. Of those, 56 had no recollection of their period of unconsciousness, a result that might have been expected in all cases.

Seven survivors, however, had memories, although only four passed the Grayson scale, the strict medical criteria for assessing near-death experiences.

These four recounted feelings of peace and joy, time speeded up, heightened senses, lost awareness of body, seeing a bright light, entering another world, encountering a mystical being and coming to a "point of no return". Three of them described themselves as non-practising Anglicans while the fourth was a lapsed Roman Catholic.

By examining medical records, the researchers said the contention of many critics that near-death experiences were the result of a collapse of brain functions caused by lack of oxygen were highly unlikely. None of those who underwent the experiences had low levels of oxygen.

Researchers were also able to rule out claims that unusual combinations of drugs were to blame because the resuscitation procedure in the hospital unit was the same in every case.

Dr Parnia, who was trained at the Guys and St Thomas' medical school, University of London, said: "I started off as a sceptic but, having weighed up all the evidence, I now think that there is something going on. Essentially, it comes back to the question of whether the mind or consciousness is produced from the brain. If we can prove that the mind is produced by the brain, I don't think there is anything after we die because essentially we are conscious beings.

"If, on the contrary, the brain is like an intermediary which manifests the mind, like a television will act as an intermediary to manifest waves in the air into a picture or a sound, we can show that the mind is still there after the brain is dead. And that is what I think these near-death experiences indicate."

Dark Ages

"We're a rocking punk band from Scotland. Dark Ages are made up of three 12 year olds and one 11 year old."

"Dark Ages is made up of Tom, Adam, Alex and Charlie, who formed on the bus on the way to the swimming pool."

They still seem to be in need of a good manager and a decent website.

"Unpatriot"

Anarchy is in the air
Let's give the Government a scare
Here comes their worst nightmare1,2,3,4....
I wouldn't die for my country
I wouldn't make my mother proud
And what I'm thinking
Should be outloud
Yeah
I'm an unpatriot
Won't wave the Union Jack
I'm an unpatriot
Here's your flag have it back
Government has wrecked this place
Made it a total disgrace
I'd like to see their face
When we all rebel
I'm an unpatriot
Won't wave the Union Jack
I'm an unpatriot
Here's your flag have it back

Rio de Janeiro - Escape!

Sunday 8 October 1979.

I had walked out of my job and was looking for work. I had flown to Brazil.

An almost empty bus sped me from Rio airport to the centre of the city. The sky was full of black tropical clouds, but the air was warm and getting warmer. There were shanty towns, or favelas, built out over the waters of the bay, and beside the docks there were very seedy bars. The smiling Negro bus driver, speaking in Brazilian Portuguese, said something about Pele. I tried to explain that I was looking for a hotel. He dropped me off near the end of Avenida Rio Branco in the dictrict called Centro.

It being early on a Sunday morning, there were few people about. As I walked, I was very much aware that Rio is a city of steep little mountains and hills. I climbed a hill covered in crumbling villas. A yellow tram clanked by.

Coming to a hill topped by a favela I wandered up to a ridge near the top. I sat down in front of a row of blue, yellow and white home-made shacks, took out my writing pad, and began to sketch the scene before me. The sun broke through and below me I could see Sugar Loaf Mountain and a sea of brilliant blue.

Some ragged children materialised. They introduced themselves as Edison, Flavio, Ricardo and Fatima; and one had the surname of Anderson. Edison sat beside me and taught me how to count in Portuguese. Ricardo grabbed my pen, pretended to run off with it, and then returned it with a grin. I held out a plastic cup to indicate that I was thirsty. Edison took it to his shack and returned with it full of water. A Black youth, dressed in Sunday-best shirt, explained in a mixture of sign language and Portuguese, that this was an area of machine gun battles and murder. The black youth led me down the hill, pointed to a hotel, the Hotel Globo, and then climbed back up his hill.

My room in the Globo had no windows, but it was cheap.

I walked along Copacabana Beach, where sky-scraping wave s break on white sands, where bronzed bodies play under the palm trees, and where sparkling yachts sail beneath steep jungly mountains. My shoulders began to ache as I walked across railway tracks, over and under hills, and across motorways with killer traffic. I was getting near to the cemetary. On the grass verge, at the side of the motorway which runs along the shore, I came across four plates. On two of these there was some food. On the other two were dead black crows. The sun disappeared rather suddenly and I retreated to my windowless room in the Hotel Globo.

Monday 9th October

A bus took me past green and gold luxury flats with uniformed doormen, and past lively black slums, to Copacabana Beach. My map told me the beach was near the English Church, where I hoped to find information about jobs.

At the far end of the beach I found a bar. That was where I met Hilton, a retired Brazilian airforce warrant officer. Over beer and sandwiches, Hilton explained that he had worked for two years in Manchester, in connection with the purchase of aircraft for the Brazilian airforce. Hilton was rich. He took me to his luxury flat, one street from the beach, to introduce me to his wife, and to show off his English furniture, English wallpaper, and English beer mats. Hilton's wife wanted to live in England as it was her ideal country. Her daughter, now married to a Hollywood film producer, had had her photo in the Daily Mirror and the Sun, and was Brazil's 'most famous' model. She looked fantastic! We ate roast beef, drank some beers, and I postponed my visit to the church.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tuesday 10th October
On Tuesday morning, at the British Consulate on Praia Flamengo, the lady at the desk told me she could not help me to find work. She said that even if I found a job, I might not get an identity card from the Brazilian government.
I walked to the English Church. It was very English. Soon I was chatting to Walter Girdwood who runs the office at the church. Walter had come to Brazil just after World war I, at a time when influenza was killing millions of people. Walter suggested I get a job on a Brazilian oil rig. Alternatively, there was a school in the mountains that wanted a teacher. But, they would probably want someone fluent in Portuguese. The chaplain was not at home, so it was suggested I return the next day. Where was the school-orphanage that might want a teacher? Walter pointed vaguely in the direction of the nearest hill. He said the place was called 'Cidade de Meninos'.
I set off uphill. It was a steep climb up steep steps cut into the rock, on either side of which were piles of rubbish and the shacks of the slum dwellers. The favela houses looked surprisingly solid, considering that they were made out of old scraps of wood. There were healthy-looking children, mainly brown and black in colour, and some of them had school satchels. The people seemed friendly in an amused sort of way. Dogs barked and birds flew about and there were some enormously large beetles scurrying about among the refuse. As I climbed higher up the mountain the view of the sea and all the sugar-loaf-shaped mountains became more annd more amazing. A black lady seemed to take pity on me. Perhaps she thought this was no place for tourists. I asked her where the 'Cidade de Meninos' was, and she in turn asked three small schoolboys to guide me. Had the lady understood what I was saying? The boys led me down through steeply wooded slopes to the more civilised part of town, and left me at a bus stop!
I took the first bus that came along and ended up at the Pedro II station in Centro. This bright, clean station contained shops, live music, and cafes selling sorbets, sundaes and hamburgers. I bought a hamburger and watched the silvery cooking surfaces being polished. A fair-haired, bare-footed child was swooshing water around the floor with a mop.
Back at the Hotel Globo, I examined the bites from the bed bugs and mosquitoes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wednesday 11th October.

During the night there had been a lot of shouting in the hotel. When I went down to breakfast I noted that at the hotel's front door there was a smartly dressed marine on guard. Breakfast was bread and jam and coffee at a large shared table. My fellow guests included pulchritudinous young girls with overly tight blouses and pleasantly short skirts.

Out at Christ Church, the Rev. Roger Blankley was holding a communion service. When that had finished, Roger gave me a list of people I should try to see at the British Council.

Near the beach, and under Sugar Loaf Mountain, I found the British Council's pleasant villa. As I waited in the reception room, I studied a BBC World service pamphlet and noted two programmes: 'Rescued in Time - four people tell of their rejection of a former way of life...', and, 'Mr Kettle and Mrs Moon: George Kettle decides one day that he has had enough...'

Mr Hughes of the British Council explained that the Council only recruited from London. He claimed that the Brazilian authorities were tightening up on teachers from England who had no visas.

At the 'English Culture Centre', I was told that there was a whole industry involved in arranging visas for foreigners. You could pay around £100 to a 'fixer.' But first, you had to find a job. The Brazilian lady who was telling me all this said, "I'd love to live in England. I feel I've been there in a previous life."

Thursday 12th October

I walked along Rio Branco avenue with its skyscrapers, its joggers, its doll-like school girls, and its street musicians. I passed several airline offices, but decided it was not yet time to give up and buy a return ticket. Copacabana beach was bathed in sunlight and the beach umbrellas were dazzlingly bright. But more interesting than the surf and sand were the steep green mountains with their multi-coloured shacks. I walked towards the shanty towns just behind the beach. Municipal lorries were collecting some of the refuse from the concrete chute running down the mountain between the slum houses.

I entered the favela on the Morro de Cantagalo. The houses were of brick and the feeling that this was one of the more civilised favelas was increased by the presence of kids in school uniforms.

Sitting down at the side of a path I began to sketch the view before me. Far to the right was a sugar loaf shaped mountain and in the far distance were islands rising steeply from the sea. Immediately below me were telephone wires, a red tiled roof, a black woman in white plimsoles hanging up washing in her yard, and a duck and a sleepy cat.

Three boys, one carrying a happily chirping bird in a cage, came wandering along the sunny path and then sat down to watch me drawing. An older youth appeared. He had an unsmiling gorilla face and gorilla shoulders and he was smoking hashish. He wanted to know if I smoked. No. He seemed to be telling me to go and gave me a shove to help me on my way.

I followed one of the small boys, aged about eight, back down the hill in the direction of the beach. We came to a fork in the path and the small boy seemed to want me to take the right fork. Seconds later there were muscular arms around my neck and I was being held down on the ground by the youths. There was strong pressure on my Adam's apple. I didn't make any resistance. Hands stretched out to take my wallet, my money belt, my wrist watch, my pen, my glasses, my small change and my passport. There was about one thousand dollars in cash in the money belt. Then they were off round the corner.

I remained on the ground, somewhat bemused. An old man with a stick, who had earlier watched me drawing, walked slowly past. A middle aged lady with sunglasses and an unsmiling face came round the corner carrying my empty wallet and my passport. She handed them to me. A little schoolgirl picked up my sketches and handed them too me gravely. The lady with the sunglasses wanted me to leave the favela immediately. Taking my arm, she almost dragged me along the path. We were now being watched by several funereal faces. At the bottom of the hill, the lady with the sunglasses departed.

As I sat at the edge of the road thinking what to do next, a woman from the nearest block of flats came across and spoke a few words. It appeared that in her block there was a young Englishman from Winchester called Roger. Roger duly arrived and took me into his comfortable flat for a drink. All I wanted was water.

Roger explained that having come to Rio on holiday, he had decided to stay, and had found himself a teaching job.

He considered I was crazy to go into the favela. "The last person who went in there, an American, got killed," he said. "You know the police only go in with helicopters and machine guns."

Photo by Cafezinho
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Rio_de_Janeiro_from_Corcovado_2005.jpg

I was not sure whether or not I wanted to meet the Rio police, but Roger, having no love of the criminals in the favelas, insisted on driving me in his Volkswagen to the local police station.

"How many people attacked you," asked one of the officers behind the high desk at the entrance to the police station.

I could not be sure.

"What was the oldest one dressed like?" I could not remember. Perhaps he was wearing a red shirt.

What make of watch? I couldn't remember.

"Did you go into t he favela to buy drugs?"

"I went to draw some sketches."

The police officers grinned. They wondered why I too was grinning.

"Let your Queen Elizabeth get your money back," joked one officer.

Then I was sent to to another building, in another street, to see the military police, giants with helmets and boots. I briefly repeated my story.

Eventually, at a third police station, I was taken down stairs to view the inmates of the cells, large cages below street level. One cell was filled with tiny street urchins. The other was crowded with tough, desperate looking, black youths. I did not recognise any faces. At this point the police seemed to lose interest and I was shown the door.

Without my glasses it took me a little while to find the British Consulate, but, when I arrived there I found the lady behind the desk was sympathetic.

"It happens all the time," she said. And she went on to explain that she could not wait to leave Rio in order to start a new life in Australia.

A young New Zealander and his Brazilian girlfriend were also visiting the consulate. They hoped to get married. But the lady behind the desk was suspicious and whispered something to me about the girl probably being a whore.

The consul was a wonderfully friendly young man in a suit. He advised me about how to have money sent out from Britain.

"Where are you staying?" he asked.

"Hotel Globo."

The consul looked surprised that I should be staying in such a low-life hotel. He gave me a few, very few, cruzeiros. And took away my passport, which he assured me would be returned when I repaid him. Then the consul and his tall young side-kick took me down the street to the local bar. The consul seemed to stagger a bit both before and after our entrance to the bar.

Friday 13th October

On the beach on Praia de Flamengo, I sat watching the Cariocas: mafia types with showy clothes, police in Volkswagens, black women in green trousers sweeping the pavements, men in straw hats selling drinks from drums under their arms, and fair haired kids doing Kung Fu.

In the Consulate there was still no word of my money arriving from England. The New Zealander had obtained his documents by paying money to a 'fixer'.

In the evening I walked to the Anglican Church where I knew they were having a Curry Supper. From the courtyard of the church I stared up at the lights of the shanty town on the mountainside. Women and children were climbing up and down carrying water containers and food. The chaplain was thin, probably in his forties, and had the sort of warm, kindly face and voice you associate with people who have lived among the poor. The chaplain had worked with Indians in the jungle. In his comfortable sitting room I was introduced to the chaplain's smiling wife and to two new Zealanders, Ian and his sister Marylyn, both in their twenties, both on holiday. Ian ran a Christian bookshop in Chile and believed that Pinochet was popular, at least among the rich.

There was a large attendance at the curry supper, mainly business people. And among the throng was Mike, from Guardbridge in Scotland, and his wife Katie. The saintly Mike and Katie offered me a bed in their luxury flat off Copacabana beach. Wonderful people the Scots!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Saturday 14th
After breakfast with Mike and Katie I strolled along Copacabana beach. And that was where I met a Lieutenant Colonel in the Brazilian airforce who had once been military attache in Tokyo. He told me all about Geisha girls while we enjoyed beers in a bar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday 15th

Lunch at Mike and Kate's flat was shared with a Brazilian businessman and his fiance and their small daughter. The Brazilian, who looked like Mussolini, had views on race similar to those of Hitler. He did not like Blacks.

After lunch Mussolini drove us in his Volkswagen up into the forested hills at the back of Rio in the direction of Corcovado, the famous statue of Christ. Through the fog we could make out the dark favelas and beside them the luxurious houses of the rich. The fog thickened and Mussolini's search for Christ became increasingly difficult. The jungle seemed to close in around us and the petrol tank was almost empty. Mussolini gave up and headed back to the centre of town. Here, Mussolini showed us, from the safety of the car, the attractions of the red light district.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Monday 16th
My money arrived at the Bank of London and South America. Having collected it I guarded it carefully as I set off for the office of Air France. And so, back to London, and, after a few weeks, a new job! That was 1979.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My memories of Rio: the most supernatural, sensuous, and spellbinding place in this or any parallel universe. Think of the tall dark Tijuca mountains, tall dark tropical trees, tall skyscrapers, the peak of Corcovado surmounted by the statue of Christ, Sugar Loaf mountain, sparkling Guanabara Bay, Copacabana, yellow trams, long-legged girls with dental floss bikini bottoms, seductive carnival music, sambas, street children hoping not to be murdered by the police ..... oil drums, bright blue walls, spiritist statues, corrugated iron, banana trees, washing lines, kids flying kites... You will be haunted by Rio's strange sounding church bells, its mists rolling in from the sea and its beautiful people.

Moderation...

From LAO TZU "TAO TE CHING"

There are three jewels that I cherish:

compassion,

moderation,

and humility.

With compassion, you will be able to be brave,

With moderation, you will be able to give to others,

With humility, you will be able to become a great leader.

To abandon compassion while seeking to be brave,

or abandoning moderation while being benevolent,

or abandoning humility while seeking to leadwill only lead to greater trouble.

What girls like is stimulation

~

Shere Hite has written a book on male sexuality: 'Oedipus Revisited'.

It was Hite who discovered that women prefer clitoral stimulation rather than vaginal penetration. She also discovered that the typical man does not marry the person he loves.

These messages are repeated in Oedipus Revisited.

Hite explains that men do not particularly like being in love, because that means feeling out of control.

Men are more likely to find a wife with whom they feel safe, rather than a wife who pruduces turbulent emotions.

Oedipus Revisited: Sexual Behaviour In The Human Male Today (Arcadia, £15.99) is published on December 31 2005

Some studies, notably Alfred Kinsey's Sexual Behavior in the Human Male (1948) and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female (1953), have indicated that the majority of people appear to be at least somewhat bisexual. The studies report that most people have some attraction to either sex, although usually one sex is preferred. According to some (falsely attributed to Kinsey), only about 5-10% of the population can be considered to be fully heterosexual or homosexual.

Bisexuality has been observed in over 500 species ....

The bin Ladens

On the far right is Osama bin Laden at Oxford in England.

Reportedly this is Osama bin Laden with Zbigniew Brzezinski (* See note about the photo)
1. Osama bin Laden and the Jewish Mafia
The newspaper Scotland on Sunday reported 16/9/ 2001 that Osama bin Laden made his fortune in part by working with Jewish-Russian mafia operations in Qatar and Cyprus.
.
2. Osama bin Laden and the Caymen Islands
Michael Rupert (Osama Bin Laden - A CIA Creation and It's Blowback) has reported on possible links between Caymen banks and Osama bin Laden.
Deutsche Bank (allegedly one of the banks used by bin Laden and inside traders at the CIA) reportedly has an interest in Safron Partners, which is part of a corporate network on the Cayman Islands that is allegedly run by Bin Laden's half brother, Hassan.
Osama Bin Laden and the CIA and a Mr Hekmatyar are reputed to have been involved in the Afghan heroin business.
Bin-Laden allegedly established branches of his business in the Cayman Islands; and he allegedly employed law firms and consultants connected to Langley, Virginia and the CIA.
.
3. Osama and British Inteligence
The French Internet publication, Indigo, reported that Osama bin-Laden was a guest of British Intelligence in London in 1996.
.
4. Bush and the bin Ladens
One of George W Bush early backers was James Bath, who was "the bin Laden family's representative in Texas" (Bush Money)
Bath allegedly managed millions of dollars for Khalid bin Mahfouz, one of the central figures in Bank BCCI, which was labeled as the bank for the Medellin drug cartel, Noriega, Saddam, Abu Nidal, and heroin godfather Khun Sa.
Mahfouz was apparently an investor in the Carlyle Group of which Bush senior was a director.
In 1999 it was reported that bin Mahfouz was financing Osama bin Laden.
Mahfouz has a palatial estate in Houston Texas.
James Bath was seemingly president of Skyway Aircraft leasing , a Texas company, owned by bin Mahfouz, and registered in the Cayman Islands.
.
5. Wafah bin laden
Wafah bin Laden, the niece of Osama Bin Laden ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1572299,00.html ) is known as a party girl. She once danced with President George W Bush’s daughter Jenna at a nightclub in the south of France.

6. Osama bin Laden's school friends...

From http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/binladen/who/family.html

"One of the connections which still explains many of the personal ties existing throughout the Middle East is the Victoria College in Alexandria, where the bin Laden boys attended classes along with schoolmates such as King Hussein of Jordan, Zaid Al Rifai, the Kashoggi brothers (whose father was one of the king's physicians), Kamal Adham (who ran the Saudi [security] services under King Faisal), present-day contractors Mohammed Al Attas, Fahd Shobokshi and Ghassan Sakr and actor Omar Sharif."

7. Salem bin Laden
Quoting a French intelligence report posted by PBS Frontline, The New Yorker reports, “During the nineteen-eighties, when the Reagan administration secretly arranged for an estimated $34 million to be funneled through Saudi Arabia to the Contras in Nicaragua, [Osama’s eldest brother] Salem bin Laden aided in this cause.” [PBS Frontline, 2001; New Yorker, 11/5/2001]

According to : http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/binladen/who/family.html

"Like his father in 1968, Salem died in a 1988 air crash...in Texas... According to one of the plane's American pilots, it had been used in October 1980 during secret Paris meetings between US and Iranian emissaries. Nothing was ever proven, but Salem bin Laden's accidental death revived some speculation that he might have been "eliminated" as an embarrassing witness."

From: http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?011112fa_FACT3

"Osama's oldest brother, Salem, by most accounts a debonair and Westernized figure, who had attended Millfield, the English boarding school, took over the family empire. Salem brought the family into the modern world; he was, one American friend says, "as at home in London and Paris as he was in Jidda." A former United States diplomat in Saudi Arabia says, "I used to call him the playboy of the Western world." An enthusiastic amateur rock guitarist, Salem loved to jam with bands and go disco dancing when he was in the United States on business trips, in the nineteen-seventies. He was married to an English art student, Caroline Carey, whose half brother Ambrose is the son of the Marquess of Queensberry...

"During the nineteen-eighties, when the Reagan Administration secretly arranged for an estimated thirty-four million dollars to be funnelled through Saudi Arabia to the Contras, in Nicaragua, Salem bin Laden aided in this cause, according to French intelligence."

8. The bin Laden political and business connections
Over the years, there have been warm, substantial ties between members of the bin Laden family and leaders of the foreign-policy establishment in America and Britain. Until late last month, the family had a stake amounting to two million dollars in the Washington-based Carlyle Group, a private equity firm with a large interest in defense contracting.

The Carlyle Group is known for its politically connected executives such as former President George H. W. Bush, former Secretary of State James Baker, and former British Prime Minister John Major.
In the nineteen-nineties, both Bush and Baker visited the bin Laden family when they were prospecting for business in Saudi Arabia. The chairman of the firm is former Defense Secretary Frank Carlucci, who has been a trusted friend of the current Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, since their days on the Princeton wrestling team...

The family continues to have a stake, estimated by one source at about ten million dollars, in the Fremont Group, a private investment company, on whose board of directors sits another former Secretary of State, George Shultz.

Much of the family's private banking is handled by Citigroup, which is chaired by former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin. The family has equity investments with Merrill Lynch and Goldman, Sachs. Among the family's business partners is General Electric. A spokesman for Jack Welch, the chairman of G.E., says that the family threw a party for him in the nineteen-nineties in Saudi Arabia, and that Welch "considers them good business partners."

One American diplomat says, "You talk about your global investors, it's them. They own part of Microsoft, Boeing, and who knows what else." Others note that the family has been awarded contracts to help rebuild American military installations, including the Khobar Towers, which were damaged in a terrorist attack that killed nineteen servicemen in 1996.

9. Osama bin Laden in an American hospital just before 9 11

From: http://www.mindfully.org/Reform/Bin-Laden-Met-CIA.htm :

According to information's collected by Le Figaro, and Radio France International, Osama Bin Laden met with an American CIA agent in July 2001 while he was being treated for a kidney ailment at the American Hospital of Dubai.

"The billionaire Saudi Bin Laden visited the American Hospital of Dubaï from July 4 to July 14th, two months before the attacks of September 11, confirmed by sources close to European services of information.

"He was accompanied by his personal doctor and faithful lieutenant, Egyptian Ayman Al-Zawahari, a male nurse and four bodyguards. Bin Laden suffers from a renal infection which is propagated with the liver and requires specialized care. Doctor Terry Callaway at The American Hospital of Dubai is known for the specialized treatment of such ailments.

"During his hospitalization, Osama bin Laden was visited by several members of his family, and on July 12th the local representative of the CIA, that many people know in Dubaï, was seen going into his room.

"A few days later, shortly after Ben Laden left for Quetta with a new kidney dialysis machine, the CIA agent bragged to friends about visiting the billionaire saudi and was subsequently recalled to the USA on July 15th."

Bisexuality as a way to prevent population imbalances and global collapse

"The new doomsayers all point to the same collection of threats - climate change, resource depletion and population imbalances being the most important." - Dylan Evans http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,3604,1671576,00.html

Too many people means too much climate change and too much resource depletion.

There is an easy answer - encourage bisexual and homosexual behaviour.

Czech MPs approve law on same-sex partnerships
Homosexual couples in Britain begin civil partnerships

In parts of the Bible, bisexuality seems to be encouraged. Think for example of David and Jonathan. Jonathan Loved David

In one or two parts of the Bible, the slaughter of animals is encouraged. We no longer take these parts of the Bible seriously.

In one or two parts of the Bible, certain types of homosexual behaviour are discouraged because of (a) the need to keep up the size of the tribe (b) the need to prevent the spread of certain diseases through homosexual prostitution. Nowadays we no longer need to keep up the size of the tribe.

In Moslem countries, same sex friendships are common. The Prophet Mohamed's closest friend was Zaid, his male slave. Mohamed's first wife was Khadija. She was was aged forty at the time of their marriage and 'well past her youth'. Mohamed was about fifteen years younger. Handsome fifteen year old Zaid was the wedding gift given by Khadija to Mohamed. Mohamed and Zaid became very close friends. Gay Moslems Bisexual animals? Bisexual Moslems? Sex with boys?

God has created, or allowed to evolve, lots of bisexual creatures.
Salon Ivory Tower The fabulous kingdom of gay animals

In some parts of the animal kingdom and in some part of the human kingdom, heterosexual activity has often been discouraged; the reason for this is the need to keep down the size of the population.

Http://www.glbtq.com/social-sciences/karsch_haack_f.html

Ferdinand Karsch-Haack demonstrated the occurrence of same-sex sexual activity throughout the animal kingdom, among the so-called primitive peoples, and in all non-Western cultures.

"As Jared Diamond explains in his recent book, 'Collapse', the Maya depleted one of their principal resources - trees - and this triggered a series of problems such as soil erosion, decrease of useable farmland and drought. The growing population that drove this overexploitation was thus faced with a diminishing amount of food, which led to increasing migration and bloody civil war. The collapse of the civilisation on Easter Island followed a similar pattern, with deforestation leading to other ecological problems and warfare." - Dylan Evans.

The answer is to more like the Bonobo chimps? FLIRTING BOYS and peeing down the legs of morning suits.

Diana and the security services

The Daily Express, 19 december 2005, claimed that French authorities were in a "blind panic" over a deadline requiring them to answer whether Princess Diana was pregnant when she died.

'A known and respected French journalist related that a physician he knows personally, who works at Pitie Salpetriere, told him that blood tests taken upon Diana's arrival showed she was indeed pregnant. This physician, who identified his source as one of the doctors who operated on the Princess, then said that when he looked in Diana's medical dossier several days after her death, all the test results had been removed.'
http://www.public-interest.co.uk/diana/dipreg.htm

Princess Diana told friends that she would be killed in a car crash.

Henri Paul was the Paris Ritz security man who was driving the Mercedes in which Diana crashed. Allegedly, Henri Paul worked for MI6.

'World renowned forensic scientist Dr James Sprott has provided evidence that Henri Paul was not drunk when the Mercedes crashed. The alcohol in Henri Paul's body was created after the crash.' Political-debate.com :: View topic - Diana's Driver 'Was Sober'

James Andanson is suspected of being the driver of the white Fiat Uno which, according to witnesses, came into contact with the Mercedes. Paint from a white Fiat was found on the Mercedes.

Reportedly, Andanson had worked for MI5.

'Three months after Diana died, Andanson was found dead in a field in France. Some French police investigators have confided privately they believe Andanson was abducted and murdered.' EXCLUSIVE - Diana Murder Coverup Turns Deadly

The death of Princess Diana: What caused the crash at the Point d'Alma?
by Seán Mac Mathúna and John Heathcote:
http://www.flamemag.dircon.co.uk/diana.htm:

... it's possible that one of the vehicles (a white Fiat Uno) rams the Mercedes just before the crash "causing it to spin out of control" (The Guardian, November 13th, 1997).

As the Mercedes gets nearer the tunnel, a motorbike prevents one car (driven by Brenda Wells) from taking the approach road that leads to the tunnel.

It's possible that a remote-controlled device was used - causing an explosion (reported by CNN) which was heard by witnesses - that disabled the driving controls and electronics of the Mercedes.

A strobe light was also used to disable the driver on the final seconds before it entered the tunnel - which some witnesses claim was completely dark as the lights had been tuned off minutes earlier.

After hearing an explosion and then a bang, witnesses ran to the scene - only to be told to "back off" by an unknown person to runs towards them out of the tunnel from the direction of the crashed car.

A second person, whose identity is also unknown, was seen in the Mercedes removing the drivers head off the car horn.

Witnesses also report that a helicopter was seen above just before the crash - was it monitoring events on the ground ?

As the electricity has been cut in the tunnel [according to the
Lobster (winter 1999), link], the traffic cameras don't work, thus ensuring there is no video evidence of the Mercedes final approach to the tunnel, or what vehicles can be seen leaving it.

One witness, Gary Hunter saw two vehicles race out of the tunnel, others saw a motorbike.

A car was used to block the route of the Mercedes thus forcing it onto the road that leads to the tunnel at the Point d'Alma as witnessed by Thierry H; At least one of the paparazzi on a fast motorbike chasing the Mercedes was working for MI6 (according to Tomlinson).

At least two cars may have been involved in causing the crash (one may have carried personnel that used a strobe light to blind the driver (Brenda Wells) another may have used some kind of electronic interference device that seized up the cars electronics (potentially up to four people);
Witnesses saw a helicopter above just before the crash - was it monitoring events on the ground and relaying them back to a control centre (the British Embassy where Tomlinson claims that up to six MI6 officers were stationed over that weekend) ?

Who was the motorcyclist who forced Brenda Wells off the road ?

Who were the two people seen near the Mercedes seconds after the crash, and before the paparazzi and stunned onlookers reached the scene ?

The death of Diana's bodyguard Barry Mannakee in 1987:
http://www.flamemag.dircon.co.uk/diana_mannakee.htm:

[Princess Diana'a] bodyguard Barry Mannakee (who is rumoured to have become her lover in 1985) died in unexplained motorbike crash in 1987. Afterwards, according to the former Conservative MP Charles Wardle, Diana feared for her life.

In a speech in the House of Commons (Hansard, 22nd June 1999), Wardle stated:

"Diana's remarks to Al Fayed concerned the royal household's antipathy to her; its habitually close links with the security services; the manipulation, interference, and control, as she saw it, exercised by official's of the household; her conviction, based on what she said she had been told, that Barry Mannakee's death was not an accident; and her apprehension that she, too, would be assassinated"

A plot to assassinate Milosevic in 1992:
http://www.flamemag.dircon.co.uk/diana_milosevic.htm

... Tomlinson has now published The Big Breach, his account of his service in MI6 in Russia in January 2001 // ...

During the 1990's, MI6 is alleged to have been involved in two attempts to kill leaders of foreign government's: President Milosevic of the Yugoslav Republic of Serbia in 1992, and Libya's leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, in 1996.

Although it appears that the initial attempt to kill Milosevic was abandoned, during NATO's air campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999, a second attempt was made to kill him and his family, when his house was hit by missiles from US bombers. ... in 1986, US bombers flew from Britain to kill Gaddafi and his family - they failed, but 55 civilians in Tripoli, along with his daughter died in the attack. //

David Shayler told the BBC, that he that learned MI6 had channeled US $160,000 to an underground, Islamic fundamentalist group in Libya to assassinate Gaddafi in ... 1996 ...

Report of allegation of MI6 use of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2002/10/09/1034061258269.html:

The British media have been gagged from reporting sensational courtroom evidence of former MI5 spy David Shayler, including his alleged proof that the British secret service paid $270,000 for al Qaeda terrorists to assassinate Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 1986.

Excerpt from a 5-14-98 London Mirror story by Oonagh Blackman...

This (an alleged CIA document) is one of the five secret papers put up as proof that Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed were murdered. It is part of the amazing dosier offered for 10 million (Pound Sterling...about $16 million dollars) to Dodi's father, Harrod's owner Mohammed Al Fayed, and now obtained by the Mirror.

Mr. Fayed believes the Diana papers, said to originate from the US Central Intelligence Agency, back his conviction that the British establishment masterminded a conspiracy against his son and the Princess. But despite repeated requests, the CIA has refused to say whether the documents are genuine. Mr. Al Fayed said yesterday, "I intend to establish the truth behind the tragic events in Paris last August." "We are still waiting for the CIA to pronounce on the authenticity of the documents."

One file headed "Foreign Intelligence Information Report" contains comments attributed to the Duke Of Edinburgh and the Prime Minister about the 'disastrous' relationship between Dodi and Diana. It highlights a request from the security service MI6 for a "permanent solution to the Dodi problem" and details plans to sabotage an Al Fayed Mercedes - "stolen and returned with electronics missing."

The report is dated June 17, 1997, just over three weeks before Diana and Dodi began their fateful romance aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean. MI6 Director David Spedding is named in one telex and a squad from the Israeli secret service Mossad, referred to as the "K-Team", appears in another. The Diana Papers are littered with codes and abbreviations.

Seized

They were seized in an Amsterdam hotel room three weeks ago when Mr. Al Fayed's security chief, backed by two FBI agents, met a middleman who was demanding 10 million (Pound Sterling) for them. The intermediary, 67 year old Oswald LeWinter, was arrested and is now in solitary confinement in a Vienna police cell.

In Command of History: Churchill Fighting and Writing the Second World War.

~

David Reynolds has written In Command of History: Churchill Fighting and Writing the Second World War. (Random House.)

The following are extracts from a review by Henrik Bering at Hoover Institution: Policy Review, December 2005.

http://www.policyreview.org/134/bering.html

Of particular interest is the stuff Churchill left out, which, not surprisingly, tends to show him in a less than flattering light. Thus, missing from Their Finest Hour are cabinet discussions at the time of Dunkirk about a negotiated peace using Mussolini as a go-between. Pressured by his foreign minister, Lord Halifax, Churchill at one point seemed to be willing to consider conceding Malta or Gibraltar or some African colonies if an accommodation with Hitler could be reached. This, of course, does not quite square with our image of him as the bedrock of anti-Nazi fortitude.

Despite his public stance of imperturbability, privately Churchill was less than certain of the outcome. At one point he worried aloud to General Ismay that they “probably would be dead in three months time.” But he also realized that Britain was in a very poor bargaining position and that even the hint of using Mussolini would be terrible for morale. “One cannot easily make a bargain at the last gasp. Once we started the friendly mediation of the Duce, we should destroy our power for fighting on.” The whole idea was quickly dropped. But we should not let this glimpse of a less confident Churchill diminish him, Reynolds cautions. Instead of “the almost blindly pugnacious bulldog of popular stereotype,” we should see him as a normal human being, subject to normal fears. What mattered was that he was capable of overcoming his private doubts to project utter confidence...

Churchill’s weaknesses as a commander-in-chief are well known. Always an admirer of military dash — he had been a cavalry officer, after all — Churchill had little patience for humdrum but rather necessary things like logistics...

There are occasional problems of emphasis in the later volumes, giving them a somewhat parochial perspective, and sometimes amounting to an outright distortion of the historical record. In volume four, The Hinge of Fate, Reynolds notes, Churchill depicted the battles of Midway and El Alamein as the hinges of the war while giving Stalingrad short shrift (a mere four pages). Alamein was certainly important for the Brits — “Before Alamein we never had a victory. After Alamein we never had a defeat,” Churchill wrote — but its significance does tend to pale in comparison with Stalingrad. According to figures supplied by Reynolds, half a million Russians died in Stalingrad, and the Red Army killed 150,000 Germans and captured 91,000. At El Alamein the British 8th Army lost 13,500 men and took 30,000 Germans prisoner. The neglect of Stalingrad is no doubt explained by the Cold War — The Hinge of Fate was published at the time of the Korean War — which understandably was not the moment to be praising the Russians.

On the vital topic of Overlord, the allied invasion of France, Churchill particularly wanted to prove that he had not been opposed to it, as certain factions in the United States alleged. But, says Reynolds, he did not make a particularly good job of it. Though he had always paid lip service to Overlord as the keystone of Anglo-American cooperation, he saw as a fatal error the 1943 failure to exploit the Italian collapse by grabbing the Aegean islands and persuading Turkey to enter the war. Churchill’s problem with Overlord was not that he doubted the Allies could land in France; he worried what might occur between days 30 and 60 after the landings.

Accordingly, he forwarded to Stalin a telegram he had received from Eisenhower’s headquarters. Three-fourths of the telegram, composed by General Harold Alexander, contained an exceedingly gloomy assessment of the Italian situatuion following German reinforcements, making a cross-Channel invasion impracticable. But Churchill deliberately omitted a fourth section, written by Eisenhower himself, containing a much more optimistic view of the future and of Overlord’s chances. In what Reynolds considers “one of the most blatant distortions of the memoirs,” Churchill included in Closing the Ring the pessimistic portion of the cable, but again excluded Ike’s more optimistic view.

Having been forced to commit to Overlord, Churchill had at least arranged for it not to have a British commander. In a draft version that did not appear in the final work, he wrote: “I had the fear that if a bloody and disastrous repulse were encountered, far bigger than the first day on the Somme in 1916, there might be an outcry in the United States, it would be said that another result would have attended the appointment of an American general.”

...One of Churchill’s aims in Triumph and Tragedy was to pin the responsibility for Yalta and its aftermath on the Americans — though letting Roosevelt off easy on the grounds that the president had been dying at Yalta. And on the final race toward Berlin he blamed the U.S. generals for thinking in purely military terms and for ceding Berlin to the Soviets. But he could not criticize Eisenhower too directly, since Ike was now in the White House and Churchill did not want to damage the special relationship. Thus the line “Berlin, Prague and Vienna were needlessly yielded to the Soviets: Here may be discerned the tragedy of our triumph” ended up on the cutting room floor. But that was how he felt.

Trying to reduce tensions with the new Soviet leadership made him go easy on Stalin and shift blame for Soviet behavior onto shadowy “men behind him” and to the marshals. This is of course nonsense; Stalin had always been calling the shots in Moscow.

Baden-Powell and boy scouts

Boy Scouts 'get caught' bathing near Point Edward, Ontario, 1911 (www.archives.gov.on.ca/.../big/big_04_scouts.htm)

Scouting was founded on 1 August 1907, the day of the opening of Robert Baden-Powell's camp on Brownsea Island in England.

Today, there are more than 28 million Scouts, youth and adults, boys and girls, in 216 countries and territories. There are 6 countries without Scouts.

Indonesia has 8,909,435 scouts. The USA has 6,239,435. India has 2,138,015. The Philippines has 1,956,131. The United Kingdom has 498,888.

http://www.pinetreeweb.com/bp-jamborees.htm

The following is taken from:
Reference.com/Encyclopedia/Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell

On his interest in boys:

Two modern biographers of Baden-Powell consider him to have been a repressed homosexual, Michael Rosenthal of Columbia University and Tim Jeal. Tim Jeal's work, researched over the span of five years, was published by Yale University Press and well reviewed by the New York Times, the Washington Post and other publications of record.

Along with many other pieces of evidence for his contention, Jeal mentions as illustrative an episode which ocurred in November of 1919. While on a visit to Charterhouse, his old public school, he stayed with an old friend, A. H. Tod, a bachelor teacher and housemaster who had taken large numbers of nude photographs of his pupils as part of a photographic record of public school life. Baden-Powell's diary entry about his stay reads: "Stayed with Tod. Tod's photos of naked boys and trees. Excellent."

In a subsequent communication to Tod regarding starting up a Scout troop at the school, Baden-Powell mentions his impending return visit and adds: "Possibly I might get a further look at those wonderful photographs of yours."

Tod's pictures of nude boys survived until the 1960's, when they were destroyed in order to "protect Tod's reputation." We are told, however (by R. Jenkyns), that the album contained nude boys in poses which were "contrived and artificial." Though today such a thing may raise suspicions, seen in the light of those days these would not have been at all unusual. We have no reason to suspect that Tod's relations were anything but chaste, and his pictures were rather in keeping with the contemporary tradition of male homoerotic art exemplified by Henry Scott Tuke's paintings, Baron Wilhelm von Gloeden's photography, and others.

Jeal also mentions that Baden-Powell ". . . consistently praised the male body when naked and denigrated the female. At Gilwell Park, the Scouts' camping ground in Epping Forest, he always enjoyed watching the boys swimming naked, and would sometimes chat with them after they had just 'stripped off.'" (Personal communications between Jeal and old scouts)

Despite his appreciation for the beauty of young boys, Baden-Powell seems never to have acted on his suspected attraction with any of the boys, and was adamant about the need to restrain the sexual impulse, especially in his communications with boys. He incorporated a graphic prohibition against masturbation in early scouting manuals (so graphic that Cox, his printer, refused to run the presses till the mention was watered down), and into his eighties carried on correspondences with individual scouts exhorting them to control their urge for "self-abuse." He subscribed to the commonly held turn-of-the-century opinion that the practice led to disease, madness and sexual impotence. His views were not shared by all. Dr. F. W. W. Griffin, editor of The Scouter, wrote in 1930 in a book for Rover Scouts that the temptation to masturbate was "a quite natural stage of development" and steered scouts to a text by H. Havelock Ellis that held that "the effort to achieve complete abstinence was a very serious error." (Tim Jeal, Baden-Powell: Founder of the Boy Scouts 1989, pp. 93-94)

BP

At glbtq, Geoffrey W. Bateman wrote about Powell:

http://www.glbtq.com/social-sciences/baden_powell_r,2.html

Baden-Powell's Sexuality:

In recent years, Baden-Powell's sexuality has come under increasing scrutiny. Even though he married Olave Soames in 1912, at the age of 55, many biographers have speculated that his lifelong friendship with Kenneth McLaren may have been sexual. At the very least, it is clear that Baden-Powell's relationship with McLaren was one of the most important emotional connections of his life.

Interestingly, Baden-Powell's relationship with his wife, who was considerably younger than he, may not have been sexual. Indeed, it tended to duplicate his relationships with male comrades and boys. She altered her appearance to suit him, flattening her breasts and shearing her hair. As Jeal remarks, "With every hint of sex removed from a relationship he could get on reasonably well with women."

It is difficult to know for certain the intricacies of Baden-Powell's sexual orientation. But after considering all available evidence on the matter, Jeal concludes that even if he never acted on any homosexual impulses, "Baden-Powell was a repressed homosexual."

Jeal's conclusion may or may not withstand scrutiny, but his discussion emphasizes an important undercurrent to Baden-Powell's life. He intensely identified with and enjoyed all-male culture and the activities that accompanied it. Whether this interest was simply an extension of a Victorian sensibility toward male friendship or a latent indication of homosexuality, we may never know.

Yet considering Baden-Powell's central role in creating the Boy Scouts and the current debate on gays in the Boy Scouts of America, our inability to confirm his orientation certainly challenges the American organization's belief that gay men have no place in the scouting movement. (Tellingly, the British, Canadian, Australian, and European chapters of the Boy Scouts do not ban homosexual participation.)

For his services to the nation and to international scouting, Baden-Powell was knighted in 1909 and created a baron in 1929. In 1938, he returned to Africa, where he died on January 8, 1941.

Napoleon - the first fascist in modern European history.

Napoleon ordered thousands of prisoners to be killed with the bayonet.

In 1799 Napoleon was in the Middle east. He took 2,000 prisoners in Gaza. At Jaffa 3,000 defenders surrendered to the French on condition that their lives would be spared.

Once in possession of Jaffa, Napoleon ordered the execution of all the prisoners from Jaffa and most of those from Gaza.

To save bullets and gunpowder, Napoleon ordered his men to bayonet or drown the prisoners. There were reports of soldiers wading out to sea to finish off terrified women and children.

Napoleon's genocide 'on a par with Hitler'

By Colin Randall in Paris(Filed: 26/11/2005)

A French historian has caused uproar by claiming Napoleon provided the model for Hitler's Final Solution with the slaughter of more than 100,000 Caribbean slaves.

In The Crime of Napoleon, Claude Ribbe accuses the emperor of genocide, gassing rebellious blacks more than a century before the Nazis' extermination of the Jews.

His accusations refer to the extreme methods used to put down a ferocious uprising in Haiti at the start of the 19th century. Then known as San Domingo, the colony was considered a jewel of the French empire and to save it troops launched a campaign to kill all blacks aged over 12.

"In simple terms, Napoleon ordered the killing of as many blacks as possible in Haiti and Guadeloupe to be replaced by new, docile slaves from Africa," Ribbe said yesterday.

He said he had found accounts from officers who refused to take part in the massacres, especially the use of sulphur dioxide to kill slaves held in ships' holds.

His book is already provoking controversy prior to its publication on Thursday. The newspaper France Soir juxtaposed images of Napoleon and Hitler yesterday before asking: "Did Napoleon invent the Final Solution?"

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE: The first Fascist of modern history

Napoleon Bonaparte was the child and heir of the very first Leftist revolution, the French revolution, and he is to this day lauded as the man who took the "ideals" of the French revolution to the rest of Europe. Like all Leftist dictators, he preached the central Leftist myth of equality -- but did not practice it -- and built up around himself a cult of the leader that was very much the same as that built up around themselves by Mussolini, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Kim Il Sung etc.

And, again like other Fascists, he took French nationalism and love of gloire to new heights. During his rule -- police state though it was -- he made the French feel that they were the greatest nation on earth. And the French died in their droves in furtherance of that myth -- just as Germans later died in their droves for Hitler. Mussolini may have invented the term but it was really Napoleon who was the first Fascist in modern European history.

Smoosh

Smoosh are two sisters from Seattle who are ten and twelve years old. Their names are Asya and Chloe. Their album was The Village Voice's #1 most overlooked record of 2004.

When the members of Smoosh were told they could be bigger than Led Zeppelin, they said: 'Is that big?' http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1636684,00.html

She Like Electric is no sickly novelty. Instead, it's a collection of sparse, exhilaratingly skewed pop songs, powered by Asya's high, slurred vocals, untutored electric-piano playing and her sister's booming drums. You occasionally catch the hint of an influence - a snatch of Tori Amos on the exquisitely melancholy It's Cold, a trace of hip-hop on Rad and the frantic Bottlenose - but most of it sounds like nothing else. http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/features/story/0,11710,1636684,00.html

Smoosh is a Seattle-based band that has been opening for Pearl Jam, Sleater-Kinney and Death Cab for Cutie. Now they're promoting their first album, She Like Electric, but they try not to let the hectic schedule interrupt their day jobs - as elementary and junior high students. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4167837

Da Vinci, Buccleuch, Hess, Oscar Wilde

A £30 million Da Vinci painting was stolen from Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland in 2003. The castle is home to the Duke of Buccleuch (The title of Duke of Buccleuch was created in 1663 for James Crofts the eldest illegitimate son of Charles II of England, who had married Anne Scott, 4th Countess of Buccleuch.)

Two men posing as visitors overpowered a female member of staff and escaped with the painting.

The white Volkswagen Golf GTI used by the gang in their escape was found abandoned in woods near the castle.

Police released descriptions of two men seen near the castle.

One was in his early 40s, 5ft 10in, clean shaven and of slim build.

He was wearing brown shoes, cream trousers with a black belt, a cream T-shirt, a brown Nubuck leather jacket...

The other was in his late 40s, 5ft 10-11in, of slim build and clean shaven.

He was wearing black trousers, black shoes, a cream long-sleeved shirt, a sleeveless taupe safari-type jacket and a light cream wide-brimmed hat.

Could they be upper class gentlemen who are familiar with the castle and the local area?

The Duke of Buccleuch, Prince George Duke of kent, MI6 and the Nazis

The Duke of Buccleuch and Prince George, Duke of Kent, were allegedly involved in a plot with Rudolf Hess and MI6.

In 1941 there was a large 'peace party' in Britain which allegedly included many aristocrats such as the Duke of Buccleuch, many MPs, many members of the security services and members of the Royal Family.

The 'peace party' wanted to do a deal with Hitler. Some members of the 'peace party' admired the Nazis; some did not. Prince George, Duke of Kent, was reportedly a member of the group that wanted peace.

Lynn Picknett writes: "in 1942 the Duke of Kent was acting as political advisor for George VI... It wasn’t so much that he was pro-Nazi or sucking up to Hitler; he was simply pro-peace.'

Double Standards: The Rudolf Hess Cover-up' by Lynn Picknett, Clive Prince & Stephen Prior argues that:

1. Hess flew to Scotland in 1941 with Hitler's blessing.

2. Hess was to meet with a faction of British royalty and the aristocracy who wanted to arrange peace between Britain and Nazi Germany.

Hess is reported to have landed at the Duke of Hamilton's home at Dungavel House.

According to one account, 'two Czech Hurricane pilots who intercepted a lone Messerschmitt heading towards the'Firth of Clyde on the evening of May 10 were told not to attack it...

'A member of the Womens Auxiliary air Force, stationed that night at Dungavel House, remembers the landing lights on the Duke's private airstrip being on, shortly before Hess's plane crashed, despite blackout regulations.'

The Duke of Kent was said to have been at Dungavel, waiting for Hess. The Duke of Kent was involved in a motoring accident with a coal lorry the next morning not far from Dungavel House. His passenger was the Duke of Buccleuch, 'well known for his anti-war, pro-German sentiments prior to 1939'.

According to 'Double Standards: The Rudolf Hess Cover-Up':

1. Churchill and his faction got to Hess first when his plane landed and locked him up, even though Hess had been guaranteed safe passage by King George VI.

2. It is possible that the Duke of Kent rescued Hess and tried to fly to Sweden to continue secret peace negotiations.

3. The Duke's plane crashed approximately two miles from where Hess was kept on the shores of Loch More. Hess may have died in the plane crash. The plane crash may not have been accidental.To many members of the 'peace party', the real enemy was the Soviet Union. They wanted Hitler to wage war on Stalin.

The Duke of Buccleuch was put under virtual "house arrest" for the remainder of the war.

Clive Prince writes: 'Churchill was in a very, very insecure position politically in May 1941. In fact, three days before Hess arrived, there had been a vote of no-confidence in Churchill. He didn’t have the support of the aristocracy or the support of MI6 and the King. But the Hess affair basically gave Churchill the opportunity to blackmail his opponents who were involved with the Hess flight into supporting him...

"He also used the Hess flight to ensure that Hitler went ahead with his attack on Russia six weeks after Hess arrived...."

"We’re certain that MI6 was totally involved in the Hess affair - they weren’t luring him over: they were inviting him over. This was because MI6 were supportive of the idea of ending the War with Germany. MI6 saw the real enemy as being Russia. Sir Stuart Menzies - the head of MI6 - advised Churchill to stay out of things and let the Nazis and the Russians get on with it.."

A new biography of Oscar Wilde claims that Wilde's trial and imprisonment was a cover up for a gay affair between the Prime Minister, the Earl of Rosebery, and Viscount Drumlanrig.

The Secret Life of Oscar Wilde, by Neil McKenna, suggests that the prime minister, the Earl of Rosebery, had a gay relationship for over two years with Viscount Drumlanrig, the older brother of Wilde’s own lover, Lord Alfred Douglas.

McKenna told the Sunday Times that, “Oscar was sacrificed to save Rosebery and the Liberals.”

The book says that the Marquess of Queensbury, the father of Drumlanrig and Douglas, was so furious that both his sons were gay that he threatened to reveal the PM’s own homosexuality.

Wilde’s trial was rushed through in order to “buy off” Queensbury and save the PM’s reputation, although Queensbury later called him “a Jew nancy boy” and “that bloody bugger”.

The book also suggests that the relationship between Rosebery and Drumlanrig was instrumental to Drumlanrig being made the PM`s private secretary and eventually a Lord.

The Sunday Times quotes Philip Hoare, who has himself written a biography on Wilde, as saying that McKenna’s theory was realistic, as he believed Wilde had been a political pawn. “The Liberals saw Wilde, as it were, taking all this decadence to the suburbs. They needed to stop it.” It also mentions Wilde’s grandson, Merlin Holland opinion that “Queensbury had lost one son to this ‘unmentionable vice’ and didn’t want another lost.”
